Katelyn Wheeler
Graduate Student Intern, Supervised by Dr. West
Katelyn Wheeler is a graduate student pursuing her Master’s degree in Clinical Counseling at Dallas Theological Seminary. She earned her B.S. in Psychology: Christian Counseling from Liberty University. Katelyn developed a passion for counseling through seeing the value of restoration and the impact that emotional tools can have in navigating everyday life.
Katelyn is passionate about working with children, teens, young adults, women, and families, with particular interests in trauma, relationships, life transitions, grief, attachment, and family dynamics. Her approach is primarily person-centered while incorporating Restoration Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. She is Level 1 trained in Restoration Therapy and has also completed Play Therapy training through PESI.
Katelyn brings five years of experience serving with Young Life, where she worked with middle and high school students as well as individuals with special needs. These experiences helped shape her heart for walking alongside others through different seasons of life. Katelyn desires for clients to feel known, heard, and understood while being supported and challenged toward meaningful growth. Outside of counseling, Katelyn enjoys spending time with her soon-to-be husband, Josh, family and friends, and their golden retriever, Vivie. She loves being outdoors, getting creative through interior design and crafts, learning about holistic wellness, and serving in her community, including volunteering at a local homeless shelter.
